This rolling shear is able to cut 2, 3 and 4 mil ACM/DiBond material. It uses two opposing rolling cutter wheels. It has an outfeed slot that is 3 times longer than other mat cutters so it basically eliminates noodling or bending the material when it cuts it.
The longer outfeed slot also allows it to cut expnaded PVC like Sintra up to 6 mil.
The benefit of this type of cutter is the elimination of the "saw dust" created when cutting aluminum with a saw. Now you can have the quite and dust free cutting of mat cutters with your panel saw.
We recommend the sheet clamp option with this cutter. It helps keep material from bowing.
What is 3 mil ACM? It's Aluminume Composit Material, ususally rubber sandwiched between 2 sheets of aluminum. A well recognized brand name is "DiBondtm".
If the Saw can cut ACM, why make a special insert? Many people have asked us to this because their shops are very dust sensitive. This not only cuts the ACM but rounds over the edges.
Will it cut any other materials? Yes! It does a great job on Sintra, Forex and Expanded PVC. You can cut 3 or 6 mil sheets with just one pass with no saw dust!
How does it cut without making saw dust? The insert uses two opposing circular cutters mounted on the ends of a long "C" shaped bracket. These circular cutters pinch the material forcing it to split. Because of the pinching action, the sides of the cut are rounded so there are no sharp edges.
Why doesn't your cutter "noodle" or bend the material like the mat cutters
on the market? Since we have a larger carriage, our cutter can have longer outfeed slots making a much gentler outfeed. Our outfeed slots are about 3 times longer than the competions.
Why do you have an ACM3 and an ACM4? What's the difference? Both cut 3 mil Dibond and Sintra without dust. The ACM4 also cuts .040 Aluminum (Sheeet clamp is recommended), 5 mil AlumaCorr and 6 mil Sintra. The ACM 3 was the original version and the ACM4 is the improved version.
